Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has confirmed that the upcoming Panther Lake processors will deliver twice the AI performance as compared to the Arrow Lake processors. Gelsinger made this statement during the earnings call for the fourth quarter of 2023. The Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake offerings, launching this year, will already provide a significant threefold increase in AI acceleration over the first AI-enabled product, Meteor Lake, which was released in December.
Panther Lake, set to be released in 2025, will be Intel’s first consumer product based on the Intel 18A node. Gelsinger’s claim of doubling the AI performance means a sixfold increase in AI performance compared to Meteor Lake. The specifics of the Panther Lake architecture include the incorporation of Cougar Cove P-Cores and Darkmont E-Cores. Darkmont E-Cores are currently used in Intel Xeon “Clearwater Forest” data-center CPUs, while P-Cores are absent. Panther Lake will launch on the same LGA-1851 desktop platform as Arrow Lake and will be available in both desktop and mobile variants.
