The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that the automation process for passport applications in Nigeria will begin on January 8, 2024. The automated system will allow Nigerians to apply for and complete their passport applications online without the need for human contact.
The Minister confirmed that the training process for the automation has already begun and that the solution will go live on January 8. The automation of the passport application process is expected to improve the security architecture of the country, by detecting fake passport applications and reducing bottlenecks.
