Starting from January 8, 2024, Nigerians will be able to apply and complete their passport application process online without human contact, according to Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. The automation process aims to reduce human contact and improve the security architecture of the country by quickly detecting and eliminating fake passport applications. The government has also announced the deployment of document verification officers in every local government area to thoroughly scrutinize passport applications nationwide.
