Key Points:
- The “Automations” tab in the Google Home app is currently broken, with a 403 error preventing users from creating or editing routines.
- Some users have reported the issue, while others have not been affected.
- The Google Home web app is still accessible and can be used to create script-based routines.
An issue is currently preventing people from using many of the features of the “Automations” tab in the Google Home app. The Automations tab offers a master list of all of your custom-built Google Assistant routines. However, users are currently unable to create a new routine or edit an existing one due to a 403 error that appears when attempting to do so.
The 403 error message states, “We’re sorry, but you do not have access to this page. That’s all we know.” The issue seems to affect some users while others have not encountered it. One Reddit user reported the issue in the morning, suggesting that it has been persisting for a few hours.
If users need to create a new routine before the issue is resolved, they can still access the Google Home web app, which is unaffected by the error. However, the simplified routine creation flow is not available on the web app, so users will have to create a script-based routine instead.
It is unclear when the issue will be resolved, but the 9to5Google team will be monitoring the situation and updating the post once it is fixed. In the meantime, users are encouraged to use the Google Home web app for routine creation.
